According to biblical legend, Noah came down from Mountain Ararat, planted the first vine. Thus began the tradition of wine making in Armenia. And recently in a cave near the village of Areni the archeologists have found the oldest wine-growing areas, dated back more than 6000 years. Development of wine-making in Armenia became possible due to favorable natural conditions, the availability of technologically advanced indigenous grape varieties and a thousand-year experience of winemakers.
