Armenian cuisine is as ancient as its history, as the land it is standing on. Armenian culinary traditions are over 2000 years old. The cuisine reflects the history and geography where Armenians have lived as well as incorporating outside influences. The cuisine also reflects the traditional crops and animals grown and raised in the areas populated by Armenians. During our tour you’ll get acquainted with CUISINE of Armenian southern regions and will get acquainted with taste of Armenia.

Day 1 Acquaintance with “The Little Center” of Yerevan

Arrival – Transfer to hotel- Trip in Yerevan

Arrival in Yerevan. Trasfer to hotel. Check in at the hotel. After short rest we will get acquainted with “The little centre” of Yerevan. We’ll visit repository of ancient manuscripts Matenadaran where manuscripts of ancient Armenian recipe are kept.  We’ll also get acquainted with Cascade Complex, Opera House and The Republic Square. Then we’ll have Armenian traditional welcome with songs and dances and will taste Lamb chops with groats.

Day 2 Taste Of Armenian Traditional Khorovats

Yerevan- Oshakan-Voskevaz-Talin-Gyumri

After breakfast we’ll move to Oshakan. It is best known for the Saint Mesrop Mashtots Cathedral which is the burial place of Saint Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet. Then we’ll visit Voskewaz winery, where we’ll get acquainted with wine-making process and have a wine degustation. From Voskevaz we’ll move to Talin, where we’ll taste the most famous and lovely dish of Armenian cuisine, khorovats: meat with vegetables made in tonir. Our tour will end in Armenian cultural capital Gyumri.

Day 3 Taste Of Khash on the Highest Mount of Armenia

Gyumri-Mount of Aragats-Gyumri

In the early morning we՛ll move to the highest mount of Republic of Armenia, Aragats mount, where we will taste Khash (boiled pork) on the top of Aragats: near lake Kari. Then we’ll return and get acquainted with Gyumri, where  the samples of Armenian 19th century architecture are preserved. We’ll also visit the church of St. Yot Verq. In the evening we will taste  one of the famous national dishes Harisa. Overnight in Gyumri.

Day 4 Participation In Bread Making Process

Gyumri- Stepanavan- Sanahin-Haghpat

In the morning after breakfast we’ll move to Lori region. The first stop will be in Stepanavan Dendropark, where we will enjoy the whole beauty of Lori. Then we will move in the direction of Sanahin and Haghpat monasteries. We will participate in bread making process at local bakery, will taste goat khashlama and dishes prepared of the local assortment of herbs. We’ll also taste local plum vodka.

Day 5 Armenian Ishkhan

In the morning after a rural breakfast made by organic foods we’ll move to Odzun church, which was built in 6th century, then we’ll move to Dilijan. In Dilijan we will taste 2 types of Armenian tolma: the traditional and summer (amarayin). Then we’ll visit Haghartsin monastery and will move to “blue-eyed” Sevan. We will be in Sevanavanq, where a fascinating view to Sevan lake is opened. In the evening we will taste Armenian ishkhan and dish prepared of Sevan crayfish.

Day 6 Armenian “Qyufta” With Wheat and Mushrooms

Sevan- Zvartnots-Etchmiatzin- Yerevan

After breakfast we’ll move to Ruins of Zvartnots – the 7th century architecture listed as a UNESCO World Heritage. Then we’ll visit Etchmiadzin Cathedral – the mother church of the Armenian Apostolic Church. In Etchmiatzin we’ll taste Armenian “qyufta” with wheat and mushrooms.

Day 7 Farewell

Breakfast- Transfer to airport

After breakfast we’ll visit a mart of Armenian fruits, sweets and dried foods. Then we’ll move to the airport with a great impression and memories of wonderful tasties.
