Armenia — an ideal destination for mountain tourism. During this tour we’ll climb the small but very picturesque mountains. We’ll admire from the top all the beauties of Lake Sevan, go through forest trails to mountain lakes, go down in the valley surrounded by inaccessible cliffs. We’ll visit the only surviving pre-Christian, pagan temple of Garni, as well as in one of the most beautiful churches in Armenia — Geghard, part of which is carved into the rock.
Day 1 Yerevan
Transfer from the airport to the hostel / guest house. Introduction. Yerevan city tour.
Day 2 Mount Artanish — 2461 m.
Artanish top of the mountain — it’s the only place offering a complete panorama of the Lake Sevan. This shows the junction of the Greater and Lesser Sevan, between the peninsula and Artanish Noratus. We climb to the top of the mountain and then descend on the peninsula seagulls. Enjoying views of the Armenian mountain pearls, along the shore of Lake Sevan we’ll reach the nearest village.
Day 3 Mount Arteni — 2041 m.
Early in the morning we’ll go to the foot of the mountain Arteni. Arteni is a large, quite complex and interesting structure liparitovym volcano in Armenia. The mountain is located in the south-western periphery of the are Aragats, Talin region in Armenia.
Day 4 Mount Teghenis — 2851 m.
Teghenis Mount — the highest point of the ridge Tegenyats. On the slopes of the mountain the monastery of Tegenyats is situated, where we’ll make a short stop. Continuing the way to the top and down the opposite side of the mountain we’ll see a nice little lake Tsaghkunyats.
Day 5 Excursion day
The mountains, which we rise are low, simple, but after three climbs we have a little rest. Sleep in the morning, in the afternoon we’lll go to the pagan temple of Garni, which is the most famous monument of the era of paganism, and is dedicated to the god sun Mithras.
After getting acquainted with the temple we’ll descend into the gorge of Azat river, where there is a monument of nature — Stone symphony. It’s sheer cliffs, that have a huge number of hexagonal basalt columns of volcanic origin.
Then we’ll visit the monastery complex of Geghard, part of which is carved into the rock. In the evening we’ll wait for a tour in Yerevan.
Day 6 Mountain Ara- 1735 m.
On the last day of camp, we go up to the small mountain Ara(1735m), from where you can see the Greater and Lesser Ararat from somewhat different perspective than we are used to see from Yerevan.
Day 7 Departure
Before leaving for the airport, we’ll visit the National Museum of History of Armenia, as well as the popular open-air «Vernissage». In the market you can buy any souvenirs and gifts for your friends. Farewell new friends and transfer to the airport.
